Origin & The Cataclysm of the Magefire
The Elebrians are the native inhabitants of Eox. Long before The Gap, in the ancient dawn of the solar system, Elebrians were a thriving biological civilization inhabiting a lush, green world of blue oceans and temperate forests.
Distinguished by their tall, slender frames and distinctly enlarged craniums, Elebrians were renowned across the stars for their extraordinary mathematical, arcane, and engineering genius. However, their intellectual arrogance led them into a catastrophic planetary war with the sister planets Damiar and Iovo.
When the Elebrian high command discharged the Magefire superweapon from The Facet, they obliterated their enemies—shattering the Twins into The Diaspora—but suffered an apocalyptic energetic backlash. The planetary atmosphere ignited, oceans boiled into steam, and all biological life on the surface was scoured away in hours.

Anatomy & Physiology: Two States of Being
Today, Elebrian society exists across two sharply divided physiological states:
1. The Living Elebrian (The Biological Remnant)
Roughly five percent of the Elebrian population remains biological:
- Physical Features: Tall, exceptionally slender humanoids with smooth, hairless, chalk-white or faint violet skin, sharp features, and high, domed foreheads housing oversized brains.
- Fragility in the Ash: Living Elebrians cannot step out onto the surface of Eox without heavy sealed hazard-suits. They reside almost exclusively within the pressurized force-domes of Orphys or in subterranean hydroponic bunker-estates.
- Social Status: Depending on their family lineage, living Elebrians are treated either as cherished historical relics preserved by ancient undead ancestors, or as second-class citizens pitied for their biological frailties.
2. The Undead Elebrian (The Ascended)
The overwhelming majority of Elebrians are intelligent undead:
- Necrovites & Liches: The aristocratic ruling class who retain their full intellect, magical prowess, and personality, tethered to adamantine inanimatum phylacteries.
- Corpsefolk: Reanimated Elebrians whose preserved, embalmed flesh allows them to blend in with biological societies while possessing complete immunity to cold, disease, radiation, and vacuum decompression.
- Skeletal & Mindless Castes: Deceased citizens whose physical bodies were reanimated without individual consciousness to perform tireless industrial labor in surface mines and zero-gravity shipyards.
Psychology & Cultural Philosophy
Elebrian culture—both living and undead—is dominated by absolute emotional detachment, razor-sharp logic, and intellectual vanity:
- The Inefficiency of Mortality: Elebrians view emotional volatility, physical exhaustion, and biological hunger as evolutionary design flaws. To an Elebrian scholar, an intellectual problem should be contemplated with clinical mathematical detachment rather than passionate impulse.
- Undeath as Progress: Unlike most cultures in the Pact Worlds that view undeath as a horrifying curse or metaphysical abomination, Elebrians consider it the supreme, natural apex of mortal progress: a permanent escape from disease, biological frailty, and mortality.
- The Preservation of History: Elebrians possess meticulous historical archives dating back thousands of years. Even though the Gap wiped away personal memories of that epoch, physical data cores preserved inside deep adamantine bunkers give Elebrian scholars an unparalleled grasp of ancient astronomy, lost physics, and dead languages.
Elebrians in the Galaxy
As full citizens of the Pact Worlds under The Absalom Pact, Elebrians play major roles across the system:
- Diplomats & Arbitrators: Because of their cold, unshakeable logic and centuries of personal legal experience, Elebrian diplomats from Eox are frequently sought out to mediate complex corporate disputes between AbadarCorp and outer colony governments.
- Technomagical Innovators: Elebrian researchers pioneer breakthroughs in starship shielding, cyber-grafts, gravitational tractor-arrays, and artificial soul-containment.
- The Schism of the Corpse Fleet: A bitter cultural and moral divide splits the Elebrian race. While the mainstream government of the Bone Sages in Orphys upholds peace with the living, the radical extremists of the Corpse Fleet believe living mortals are merely “spare parts” and biological cattle who must be harvested to fuel the eternal glory of Eox.
Campaign & Adventure Hooks
- The Living Heir: An ancient, dying living Elebrian noble on Absalom Station secretly hires the party to escort them home to Orphys so they can undergo the sacred rites of conversion into a necrovite—against the violent objections of their estranged children who wish to inherit the family corporate fortune.
- The Memory Core: An archaeological dig in The Diaspora recovers an ancient pre-Gap elebrian datapad. The party is approached by two rival Elebrian scholars—one a moderate historian from Orphys, the other a disguised operative for the Corpse Fleet—both desperate to purchase the encrypted artifact at any price.
- The Clinical Duel: An off-world PC is insulted by an arrogant Elebrian arcanist in an Orphys cantina. Instead of a brawl, the Elebrian challenges the PC to a traditional Mind-Duel—an intense, lethal psychic-mathematical chess game played inside a neural interface chamber where mental strain can cause brain hemorrhaging.
