👁️ Overview: The Herald of Dissolution
Shigmaa Wuntad is one of the most terrifying, calculating, and physically formidable mortal champions of chaos operating on Eraedal. Known among whispered undercity cabals as a Vested of the Galchutt, Wuntad has undergone blasphemous subterranean rites that replaced his mortal blood with the corrupting nightmare-ichor of the slumbering Old Gods beneath the Spire.
Wuntad stands nearly seven feet tall, possessing sallow, faintly scaled green-grey skin and pupilless eyes that pulse with malevolent milky-white luminescence. From his shoulder blades erupt massive, draconic wings of solid living shadow that crackle with dark electrical discharge. His hands are encased in articulated claws of dawnsilver, a celestial metal he perverted to rend magical wards and divine sanctuaries.
Rather than serving a single sect, Wuntad acts as the supreme operational link uniting two of Ptolus’s deadliest chaos cults:
- The Cult of the Ebon Hand: The mutation cult that seeks to deform and elevate mortal flesh into chaotic monstrosities.
- The Tolling Bell: The apocalyptic death-cabal preparing the rituals, resonant sound-engines, and sacrificial conduits required to initiate the Night of Dissolution and wake the slumbering Galchutt.
⚡ The Ambush at Pythoness House
The adventuring party first faced Wuntad at the climax of their expedition into Pythoness House. Just as the exhausted heroes defeated the vault’s guardian construct (the Chaosomoton), Wuntad, Ibard, and Saavia stepped from the shadows:

- The Overwhelming Defeat: Ibard’s discordant Bell of Sleep and Wuntad’s overwhelming divine aura incapacitated the party within moments. Wuntad personally battered the standing defenders into the cobblestones, leaving the adventurers bleeding, broken, and helpless.
- The Theft: The cultists stripped the party of their hard-won treasures, seizing the Skull of Chaos, the Anarchic Longsword, and jars of chaotic dust.
- The Concealed Triumph: In the midst of the chaos, Calebrimbor executed a desperate sleight of hand, shoving the critical Chaos Spirit Key into his enchanted sleeves, keeping the master key to the Banewarrens out of Wuntad’s clutches.
- The Chilling Revelation: Wuntad did not slaughter the party. As he approached them, the party’s Runic Birthmarks flared with agonizing heat. Kneeling, Wuntad revealed the sinister truth:
“You thought yourselves heroes, didn’t you? Delvers. Meddlers… You don’t even know what you are. You think these marks are blessings? Gifts of the earth and arcane? You fools. They are beacons. They are tethers. You belong to the Deep Chaos, just as I do. You are not the saviors of Ptolus… you are the very vessels our Lords will use to break it.”
- The Livestock of Dissolution: Viewing the party as living cosmic capacitors that will funnel power to the Natharl’nacna when the stars align, Wuntad left them to bleed out on the floor, declaring: “When the Night of Dissolution comes, the Natharl’nacna will gladly harvest the power they have cultivated for us.”

🧭 Story Directives & Next Movements
Now believing the adventurers are permanently incapacitated or broken, Wuntad has redirected his efforts toward his master plan:
- Locating the Broken Seal: Using the stolen relics from Pythoness House, Wuntad is triangulating the subterranean fault line leading to the outer bastion of the Banewarrens.
- The Missing Key: He will soon discover that the Chaos Spirit Key was not among the spoils taken from Pythoness House. Once he realizes the party still holds the key, his hunters—including Saavia and elite Ebon Hand assassins—will scour Ptolus to reclaim it.
- The Bell of Dissolution: He is actively coordinating with the high priests of The Tolling Bell to construct the colossal inverted sound resonators designed to shatter the dimensional seals holding the Galchutt in the deep mantle.
