Quick Facts
Classification: Prehistoric Arcane Teleportation Portal Network
Historical Origin: Pre-Gap antiquity (Created on lost Golarion and Castrovel by ancient elven high mages and planar artificers)
Primary Concentration: Forests of Sovyrian, the Shell-Walls of Qabarat, and overgrown ruins in Ukulam
Physical Appearance: Freestanding, twenty- to fifty-foot arches carved from weather-worn granite, polished white quartz, or petrified darkwood, inscribed with dormant arcane runes
Operational Principle: Instantaneous matter-translocation along planar harmonic fault-lines; requires no starship, sublight fuel, or transition through The Drift
Activation Requirement: Specialized Aiudara Keys (Resonant tuning crystals, precise acoustic harmonic frequencies, unique command words, or starlight alignments)
Strategic Value: Incalculable; bypasses planetary orbital defense grids, customs blockades, and interplanetary transit time
Overview: The Arches of the Ancient World
Long before the invention of the Drift Engine, before the broadcast of The Signal in 3 AG, and centuries before the blackout of The Gap, the ancient elves mastered interplanetary travel through pure, high-order conjuration magic. The crowning achievement of this forgotten golden age was the creation of the Aiudara—universally known among spacers and historians as The Elf Gates.
Scattered across the continents of Castrovel and hidden in deep-space ruins across the Pact Worlds, the Aiudara are colossal, freestanding arches of enchanted stone. When unpowered, an Aiudara appears as nothing more than a weathered, overgrown ruin. However, when the correct Aiudara Key—a specific resonant tuning fork, an ancient musical melody, or a specialized psychic focus—is brought near the arch, the air within the frame shudders with violet and golden light, opening an instantaneous spatial wormhole to a linked sister arch thousands or millions of miles away.
Stepping through an active arch is instantaneous and effortless: a traveler takes a single stride on the sunlit sea-cliffs of Qabarat and immediately steps out into the rain-soaked canopy of Sovyrian—or into the ancient ruins of an abandoned planetoid across the system.

The Search for the Lost Keys
While hundreds of Aiudara arches have been identified and cataloged across Castrovel, the vast majority remain dormant and impassable:
- The Missing Keys: During the chaos of The Gap, knowledge of the specific harmonic frequencies, command words, and physical tuning crystals required to awaken individual gates was largely lost.
- The Archaeologists’ Holy Grail: Recovering an active Aiudara key is one of the highest-paying bounties offered by the Starfinder Society, the Qabarat University of Xenoarchaeology, and private corporate cartels. A single working key can establish a permanent, zero-cost commercial trade pipeline that bypasses expensive starship freighters and orbital tariffs entirely.
- The Danger of Mis-Tuning: Attempting to force an arch open with improper psychic frequencies or crude electrical surges can trigger catastrophic arcane backlashes, releasing entropic shockwaves or depositing travelers into dead-space rifts.
Active Gates & Planetary Choke-Points
A small number of famous Aiudara gates remain operational and heavily guarded:
1. The Arch of Qabarat (Castrovel)
Located within a secure, manicured botanical park behind the fossil-shell walls of Qabarat:
- Connects the Lashunta capital directly to allied military installations in southern Asana.
- Maintained under 24-hour guard by Damaya battle-mystics to ensure that hostile infiltrators cannot bypass the city’s orbital customs grid.
2. The Sovereign Ring (Sovyrian)
A secluded forest sanctuary on the elven continent of Sovyrian containing seven interconnected Aiudara arches:
- Used exclusively by the Sovereign Court and high elven nobles to move between continental outposts without leaving elven airspace.
- Non-elves caught approaching the Sovereign Ring are executed or subjected to ritual memory-wiping.
3. The Forgotten Gates of Ukulam
Ancient, half-buried stone arches hidden in the untamed northern rainforests of Ukulam:
- Several of these arches are believed to lead not merely to other continents on Castrovel, but to forgotten, airless moons or lost outposts across the wider galaxy.
- Studied by the Xenowardens and the plant-folk Khizars, who guard the ruins from corporate poachers.
Campaign Hooks
- The Key in the Salvage: The PCs acquire a lot of pre-Gap technological scrap from an abandoned corporate station in The Diaspora. Inside an insulated lead container, they discover an intact, vibrating quartz crystal: a functional Aiudara key that activates a long-dormant gate hidden beneath the streets of Absalom Station.
- The Sovereign Gate Breach: An extremist faction of Lashunta dissidents discovers a forgotten Aiudara arch that bypasses the orbital defense grid of Sovyrian, opening directly into the sovereign gardens of El. The party is hired by Qabarat intelligence to seal the gate before elven wardens discover the breach and declare war.
- The Misaligned Step: While escaping an ambush in the jungles of Ukulam, the PCs activate a damaged Aiudara arch. Instead of emerging in Qabarat, they are deposited inside a lightless, abandoned subterranean vault on a forgotten asteroid—and the arch behind them goes cold.
