😈 Overview & Personality

Lord Iristul Vladaam is the dread, tyrannical patriarch of House Vladaam, the most feared noble dynasty in Ptolus. While other patrician houses play games of trade tariffs on the Council of Coin or host glittering masquerades in the Nobles’ Quarter, Iristul operates with ancient, multi-generational malice.

Iristul is aristocratic, cold, and possessed of immense personal power and tactical brilliance. He views ordinary mortals—and even fellow nobles like Kirstol Dallimothan—as fleeting, fragile cattle. Born of an ancient lineage steeped in pacts with abyssal lords, Iristul believes that House Vladaam’s divine right is absolute sovereignty over the Western Empire.

For the past several years, Iristul has been physically absent from his grim estate on the Spire cliffs. He has been scouring ancient ruins across the Old Kingdom and forgotten tombs in the Baalgor Wastelands, hunting down dark primordial relics—the legendary Banes—to assemble the artifacts needed to breach the deep vaults of the Banewarrens. In his absence, his children—Navrus Vladaam, Alisanna Vladaam, and Godrick Vladaam—maintain the family’s iron grip over illicit trade, assassination contracts, and alchemy laboratories in Ptolus.

🗡️ Physical Appearance

When present, Iristul cuts an imposing, terrifying figure. Standing six feet, four inches tall, he has broad, heavily armored shoulders and a posture of effortless aristocratic command. His heritage manifests unmistakably in his demonic features: his skin is a pale ash-gray, his eyes burn like glowing coals with no visible pupils, and two swept-back, obsidian horns curl above his temples through his mane of raven-black hair.

He wears ornate, masterwork full plate forged from midnight-blue adamantine inlaid with weeping crimson runes that glow faintly in darkness. At his hip hangs Nathil-Vond, a sentient, jagged bastard sword that drinks the blood of his victims. Even when conversing politely, the faint scent of ozone and brimstone lingers in the air around him.

🧭 Story Hooks for Adventurers

  1. The Courier from the Wastelands: A ragged messenger arrives at the Vladaam estate bearing a lead canister sealed with Iristul’s private glyph, recovered from the Baalgor Wastelands. The party intercepts the courier and discovers that Iristul has located the Black Grail and is returning to Ptolus to crack the Banewarrens.
  2. The Estate Infiltration: With Iristul away, Lord Zavere of Castle Shard hires the party to infiltrate the subterranean vaults beneath the Vladaam compound to steal a fragmented parchment detailing the Banewarren iris-gates before Navrus and Godrick can decode it.
  3. The Shadow Over the Council: Iristul sends a magical astral projection into the Council of Coin chamber, delivering an ultimatum: the noble houses must surrender all excavated relics from Dwarvenhearth to House Vladaam, or his dark legions will march upon the city.
