⚓ Overview
The Timro Royal Navy is widely heralded as the supreme conventional naval armada in all of Eraedal, possessing an unmatched combination of heavy tonnage, disciplined seamanship, specialized sea-monster-slaying artillery, and elemental magical support. While the frosty northern island kingdom of Bizantium may boast individual captains of greater nautical finesse, no realm can match the vast, crushing fleet numbers and armored warships fielded by the Timro Crown.
Stationed across the deep-water naval bases of Credia and Aracho, the Royal Navy patrols the Sea of Despair and the Strait of Relar, safeguarding the kingdom’s immense merchant trade in grain, wine, and slaves from corsairs and imperial rivals.
Twenty years ago, the Royal Navy embarked on an aggressive southern expansion, sending an armada to seize the northern port of Borlon on Oen in the Floenry Isles. Today, the Navy operates as an occupying colonial power in the archipelago—requisitioning shipyards, fortifying harbors, and waging a bitter counter-insurgency war against rebel movements while contending with rampant internal corruption.
🚢 Fleet Architecture & Capital Vessels
The Timro fleet is constructed of dense southern hardwoods, seasoned oak, and reinforced iron fittings supplied by the master smiths of Acoroc:

[ CAPITAL BATTLE ARMADA ] [ RAPID CRUISER SQUADRONS ]
- Armored Dragon Slayers (200 ft) - Sailing Frigates & Brigantines
- Grand Oared War Galleys (180 ft) - Fast Scouting Cutters & Schooners
- Marine Boarding Regiments - Maritime Warlock / Kineticist Units
1. The Armored Dragon Slayers
The most terrifying capital ships afloat: massive, heavily reinforced floating fortresses measuring nearly two hundred feet in length.
- Role: Originally designed to protect merchant shipping from the colossal deep-sea serpents that plague the southern oceans (such as Horned Ramrods and Snaggled Tooth Gobblers).
- Armament: Sheathed in heavy iron-plated timber barding, equipped with rotating deck ballistas firing reinforced cable-harpoons, and fitted with hydraulic ram-spurs capable of shattering pirate caravels in two.
2. Grand War Galleys
Multi-decked battle galleys measuring 140 to 190 feet, propelled by sails and up to 180 oarsmen.
- The Dark Engine: The rowing benches of these warships are crewed exclusively by enslaved Orcs and debt-laborers, working under the lashes of royal overseers. In combat, the galleys achieve explosive bursts of speed to close with enemy vessels and deploy heavy boarding complements of marine infantry.
3. Frigates, Brigantines & Cutters
Three-masted sailing warships (100 to 140 feet) operating as the workhorses of the fleet. They maintain long-range patrols across the Strait of Relar, escort high-value merchant convoys, and enforce naval quarantines.
💨 The Commissioned Warlock Corps
A defining strength of the Timro Navy is its institutional integration of primal and arcane elemental magic:
- Naval Warlocks: Every naval flotilla is accompanied by commissioned Air and Water Warlocks (elemental spellcasters and kineticists). Standard doctrine requires at least one 6th-level air and water warlock for every squadron of four ships.
- Tactical Roles:
- Wind-Shaping: Manipulating sea breezes to grant Timro vessels constant favorable tailwinds while denying wind to escaping pirate vessels.
- Tactical Concealment: Conjuring dense ocean fogs and blinding rainstorms to mask squadron movements or escape superior forces.
- Fire Suppression: Instantly quelling catastrophic deck fires ignited by alchemical incendiaries or enemy spellcasters.
⚔️ Active Theaters & Internal Scandals
1. The Occupation of Borlon (Island of Oen)
- Twenty years ago, the Navy executed an overwhelming amphibious landing, seizing Borlon and transforming it into its primary forward operating base in the Floenry Isles.
- Absolute military command is held by Constable Anya Volkov, a veteran Northern naval officer who directs regional patrols and oversees heavy naval artillery from the Island Fort and Lighthouse.
- The Northeast Shipyards: The historic civilian docks of Borlon have been completely requisitioned by the Navy to repair warships damaged by tropical storms and combat.
2. The Missing Ironwood Investigation
- The naval logistics network has been compromised by severe internal corruption. A massive consignment of rare enchanted ironwood—officially dispatched from Aracho and earmarked for warship refits in Borlon—has vanished into the black market.
- The Internal Audit: High Command in Credia has dispatched Captain Marcus Renault, a rigid, incorruptible royal special investigator, to conduct an audit of the garrison.
- The Black Regiment: Native Timro spymaster Ornric Broadman is coordinating covert intelligence operations in Borlon, utilizing irregular squads to trace the missing lumber and root out treason before civil rebellion boils over.
3. Counter-Insurgency: The Order of the Indomitable Shield
- Across the interior of Oen, the Navy faces a fierce anti-colonial insurgency led by Orc Warlord Drogon Deathbringer and the Order of the Indomitable Shield. Having captured Port Oen, the rebels regularly ambush naval supply convoys and liberate slave labor columns bound for the shipyards.
🎯 Campaign Hooks with the Timro Royal Navy
- The Naval Blockade Runner: To reach a meeting with Berkshire Hathaway or transport essential relics, the heroes must navigate their ship past Constable Volkov’s ironclad naval cordon outside Borlon harbor.
- The Warlock’s Treason: A high-ranking Air Warlock aboard a naval frigate defects to the Pirate Federation of Tortugo, taking naval navigation ciphers and tactical weather charts with him. The party is hired by Captain Renault to hunt down the defector before his knowledge reaches corsair admirals.
- The Mutiny on the Galley: An enslaved crew aboard a Timro war galley stages a bloody mutiny in the waters off Oen, killing the officers and hoisting the black flag. The party must decide whether to help the Navy recapture the ship, or assist the former slaves in reaching Captain Lebrac’s free sanctuary.
