Trudd: The Mighty
QUOTE
“A stout shield and a heavy hammer are nothing without the heart to push forward. Stand firm, hold the line, and let your laughter shatter the enemy’s terror.”
— The Strong Hand, Holy Verse of Trudd
Trudd is the energetic, jovial god of bravery, active defense, and physical strength. As the youngest son of Torag and Folgrit, he represents the raw, unyielding power of the mountains translated into martial excellence. While his father constructs permanent stone fortifications, Trudd is the mobile wall—throwing himself directly onto the frontlines to act as a shield for those who cannot defend themselves. Unlike the rest of his solemn divine family, Trudd is defined by his easygoing nature, infectious humor, and boisterous lust for life, making him an exceptionally approachable protector.

Appearance & Iconography
Trudd is famously depicted as a massive, exceptionally muscular dwarven warrior whose physical power rivals the bedrock itself. Uniquely among his kin, he sports a remarkably short beard—a trait that occasionally earns him playful ribbing from older ancestors, though it is completely practical for a frontline brawler who fights hand-to-hand. He wears heavy leather and steel plate lamellar armor, constantly showing off an easy, bright grin even in the middle of a brutal melee.
His holy symbol is a heavy dwarven warhammer set directly in front of a polished golden shield. Sacred animals include cave bears and other creatures known for raw territorial protection, and his sacred colors are rustic browns and granite greys.
Canonical Eraedal History & Mythos
The Mountain’s Gift
Divine myth states that when Torag was crafting his family, he stepped back and realized he had not yet given his beloved wife, Folgrit, a child who inherited the raw, dynamic momentum of the tectonic stone. To fill this void, Torag forged Trudd. From his first breath, Trudd was designated as his father’s strong left hand, appointed as the high general of heaven’s armies. Whenever Torag must travel across the Great Beyond on cosmic business, it is Trudd who sits upon the auxiliary anvil, standing watch over the planar fortress of Forgeheart to smash back any abyssal or infernal breaches.
Out of the Mountains
For thousands of years, Trudd’s worship was strictly contained within subterranean dwarven vaults and Sky Citadels. However, everything changed during the modern cataclysms when Tar-Baphon, the Whispering Tyrant, shattered his seals. Dwarven knights fighting alongside the Knights of Lastwall brought their shrines of Trudd to the surface camps to bolster morale. His message of joy in the face of absolute doom resonated deeply on the blood-soaked surface. Today, his faith is steadily spreading to humans, half-elves, and even open-minded orcs. Trudd has warmly accepted these diverse surface groups, acting as a loving, protective adoptive father to anyone willing to hold the shield line.
Divine Relationships
Trudd is a universal favorite in the halls of Forgeheart, acting as a breath of fresh air amidst the rigid protocols of his older siblings.
| Deity / Faction | Dynamic & Lore |
|---|---|
| Torag & Folgrit | The Loyal Son. Trudd respects his parents completely and executes his military duties with absolute joy. Folgrit quietly worries about his frontline recklessness, while Torag commands his left hand with absolute tactical trust. |
| Cayden Cailean | The Drunken Tryst. Trudd loves to slip away from his rigid family duties to travel the multiverse. He has struck up a friendly, highly competitive Bromance with the Drunken God, frequently sharing drinks, brawls, and adventures. |
| Bolka | Maternal Nagging. As the goddess of marriage and committed relationships, his sister Bolka is utterly fascinated—and deeply annoyed—by Trudd’s casual flings. She is constantly meddling, trying to force Trudd to turn to a serious, traditional dwarven union. |
| Kols & Grundinnar | Sibling Friction. Kols constantly follows Trudd around to audit his logs and make sure he isn’t shirking his eternal contracts, while the missing Grundinnar used to exhaust him with endless diplomatic talk. Despite finding them infuriating, Trudd loves them fiercely. |
